Eleven people are feared dead after a bus they were travelled in plunged into a river at Mumenji in Mbeere North Subcounty.
The bus is said to have been ferrying the elderly people from Mumenji to Siakago to receive their monthly Inua Jamii funds.
The accident has been confirmed by Mbeere North Subcounty police commander Kivinda Kilonzo who said that he was not aware of the exact number of people the bus had carried.

He, however, revealed that those who survived the accident were rushed to Siakago Level 4 hospital for treatment.
"The bus is said to have rolled in a bridge across the river. The preliminary report from the scene says that 11 people have been confirmed dead.
"Those who have serviced the accident have been rushed to Siakago level 4 hospital for treatment," Kilonzo said.
