A Deputy County Commissioner was among the suspects arrested on Tuesday night for flouting government directives aimed at containing the spread of coronavirus.

Police headquarters on Wednesday reported that Fred Ouma, a Deputy County Commissioner attached to Nyayo House Regional headquarters, and five other suspects were arrested at Komarock shopping centre while drinking alcohol past 7 pm.

Latest reports indicate that government and security officials are among the violators.

In the last one week, at least 15 police officers and several Kenya Defence Forces soldiers have been arrested during enforcement of curfew order.
