There was a security concern in Kasarani on Sunday morning after a body of a young man was found at a footbridge erected near the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) barracks located in Kahawa Wendani, Nairobi County.

Police reports say that the body was found bearing serious injuries on the head. The police suggest that he was killed before being thrown off the footbridge by his killers.

"The police were called to the scene and found the body of an unknown male adult lying motionless with serious injuries on the head and bloodstains all over the scene, an indication of struggles during the attack," the report said in part.

The matter was reported to a KDF officer who was manning the barracks' gate by a civilian who was passing by. The officer who then confirmed the matter reported it to his superiors.

“He (KDF officer) reported that he was on duty as the guard commander at Kahawa barracks' main gate when a random member of the public on a motorcycle informed him that there was a body of an unknown African male adult lying at the footbridge bearing some injuries on the head," the police report read.

The body of the unidentified man has since been taken to City mortuary awaiting identification and autopsy.

The case has also been transferred to the sleuths attached to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) who have since launched investigations into the matter.
