About six people suffered bullet wounds and had to be taken to Mama Lucy Hospital, Nairobi after a wounded gunman with an assault AK-47 riffle went berserk at the Kayole Junction on Kangundo Road.
The gunman and his accomplice, who were driving a Toyota Allion were later over powered and gunned down after more than 10 minutes of fierce fire exchange with the police.
Police were acting on a tip-off and had trailed the duo all the way from Kiambu Road where they had carried out a number of robberies and upon reaching Kayole Junction, they were blocked by three cars and asked to surrender.

The driver of the car suffered fatal gunshot wounds and died on his seat, while the other gunman managed to crawl out of the bullet-riddled car into the middle of the road, firing aimlessly as he laid down.
Police said he sprayed 18 bullets before he was finally killed.
In the process, one police officer suffered a fractured leg after he fell into a ditch as he tried to take cover from the hail of bullets.
The injured were mostly pedestrians and boda boda operators.
