The police in Lugari, Kakamega County are holding a middle-aged man for allegedly killing his friend in what is believed to be a love triangle.

Lugari Sub County Police Commander (SCPC) Bernard Ngungu said the suspect reportedly stabbed a fellow farmhand to death on suspicion that the deceased was having an affair with his wife.

He said preliminary investigations revealed that Henry Miwani from Lukhuna village, Mbagara sub location picked a quarrel with the deceased over the alleged affair before the argument turned violent.

The suspect in a fist of fury picked a kitchen knife and stabbed his colleague in the chest, killing him on the spot.

After the heinous act, the suspect tried to flee but he was cornered and arrested by villagers who had rushed to the scene and handed him to police.

The police boss said the suspect is being held at Lumakanda police station as investigations go on before being arraigned in court.

The police ferried the body to Kimbilio funeral home in the neighbouring Uasin Gishu County.
