He said it will also serve as a bypass that will reduce congestion in Nairobi City.

"The road will improve access to agricultural and industrial products within Kiambu and Nyandarua Counties," Ruto said.

Also present during the exercise were Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, and Kiambu Governor Kimani Wamatangi among other leaders.

Ruto also launched the construction Kamwangi Market water project.

Through his social media, Wamatangi acknowledged the collaboration between the national government and Kiambu saying the county has recovered stolen land that will used for the construction of affordable houses.

"We are grateful for your collaborative pledge between the county government of Kiambu and the national government in the execution of a number of projects in the county, including the reclamation of public land that had been illegally taken, the building of affordable housing, the establishment of 20 markets, and the construction of the County Aggregation Centre in Waruhiu Farm (for which the county has already given out the tender)," the county boss said.
