Commercial Sex Workers based in Mtito Andei, Makueni County who were promised Ksh1 million by Deputy President William Ruto have finally received the money.

The commercial sex workers received the cash on Sunday, December 5.

“We are very happy that the Deputy President has remembered us. It is only Jesus who ever took time and shared with prostitutes,” one of the Commercial Sex Workers said.

She said that out of the four presidents who include; Mzee Jomo Kenyatta, Daniel Moi , Mwai Kibaki and Uhuru Kenyatta, it was only DP Ruto who had decided to recognize their work and encourage them to start better businesses.

Another one said that they had decided to take a break on Sunday in order to thank DP Ruto for the cash award.

She said that they had already agreed on what kind of business they will set up.

“We shall be engaged in table banking business. We shall also buy tents and seats for hire,” she said.

Addressing a rally at the town in Makueni on October 26, DP Ruto asked the ladies to organize themselves in a SACCO so that they can receive the cash.

DP Ruto was requested by one of them to at least set aside some cash from the ‘Hustlers Empowerment Fund’ so that they can kick off a respectful business.

He said that he would keep an eye on them and make sure that they start a better business with the money.
