Ruto eulogises veteran journalist Joe Kadhi

Veteran journalist Joe Kadhi has died. Confirming his demise, his family said Kadhi passed on while undergoing treatment at the Nairobi Hospital.

Kadhi worked as Daily Nation managing editor at Nation Media Group.

Deputy President William Ruto has eulogised him as a dedicated and enthusiastic journalist.

“Joe Kadhi was a truly gifted, dedicated and enthusiastic journalist who leaves behind an extraordinary body of work. Our thoughts and prayers to the family and the media fraternity. Rest In Peace,” the DP Twitted.

Journalists mourn Joe Kadhi

His fellow journalists have also mourned him.

New York Times East Africa Correspondent Abdi Latif Dahir wrote: "Joe Kadhi, a legendary reporter who served as the managing editor of Kenya’s Daily Nation newspaper and taught journalism in universities including @ExperienceUSIU has passed on. I am honoured to have been a student of Joe Kadhi. He will be dearly missed.”

Linus Kaikai said: "Sad day; veteran journalist Joe Kadhi has passed on. We have lost a mentor, professional guardian, legendary trainer and a pioneer of the golden generation.”

Kadhi also taught at the University of Nairobi's School of Journalism and Mass Communication.
