Deputy President William Ruto has condoled with Lucy Wambui who lost her three children to a night fire.

In a statement shared on his official Twitter account, Ruto sent his condolences to the mother of three whose children perished earlier this week.

"I condole and pray for Mama Lucy Wambui who lost three children to a fire in Thingati village, Ngecha, Limuru Constituency," Ruto said.

Residents who fought the fire did not salvage anything and found the bodies of two of the children under the bed where they hid during the fire.

"My heart is broken by the loss of Kinuthia (3), Bradon (7) and Wanjiru (10). May the Lord comfort and strengthen Mama Lucy now and in future," he added.

Speaking to a local daily, Kiambu Senator Kimani Wamatangi described the incident as sad, asking parents to take extra care of their children at all times.

He said the government should come up with a strategy of enlightening society on the need to take care of children.

“We need to have strategies of educating people on incidences such as accidents, burns and other issues. We need to safeguard our society today and years to come,” the senator said.
