Detectives drawn from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on Monday nabbed five suspects who have been drugging and stealing from revellers in Ruiru, Kiambu County.

In a statement, the DCI said that the five aged between 24-30 years were found in possession of mobile phones and several bottles bearing labels of various brands of alcohol which are believed to contain stupefying substances.

The five were identified as Salome Njuguna, Rahab Mburu, Naomi Njuguna, Peninah Wanjiru and Hilary Waweru and they were cornered at Ruiru's Rainbow Hotel, Kiambu County.

“The seized items will be subjected to forensic analysis to determine their content, as further investigations continue to establish the suspects' modes of operation,” a statement by the DCI read in part.

This comes at a time when Kenyans are still celebrating festive season as 2020 comes to and end.
