Police in Muhoroni, Kisumu County have launched investigations into a robbery incident that saw a driver and two salesmen lose foodstuffs worth Ksh1.1 million and Ksh18,000 in cash on Tuesday, September 6, 2022.

In the incident, the three are reported to have been ambushed by the robbers moments after they arrived at Chemilil Chiro market from their depot in Korowe area in Ahero.

The armed robbers ordered the driver to divert and head the lorry carrying goods towards Cheprwerta market.

Upon their arrival, the robbers ordered the driver to transfer the goods into the lorries parked at the market.

"After leaving the depot of the company in Korowe, Ahero, the driver who was accompanied by two salesmen was stopped by a car which had two men on board. They(robbers) came out withdrew a pistol and ordered the salesmen into the car," the police report reads in parts.

The two salesmen who claimed that they were robbed of Ksh18,000 were later abandoned between kipsitet and Awasi.

The incident comes a few days after a lorry driver was attacked and left unconscious by unknown people along the Nairobi-Mombasa Highway.

In a police report seen by K24 Digital, the victim identified as Owen Ayego was found lying on the ground with injuries on his head, hands, and legs.

Police established that the thugs emerged from the thicket when Owen had parked the vehicle to check its tires.

The thugs forced him into the vehicle before they (thugs) took control and drove towards Nairobi and dropped him along the road.

The lorry was later found abandoned along Kapiti plains main gate with all the household items missing.

Police moved the lorry to Makindu police station pending investigations.
