Kitengela's Rixxos Lobby and Grill has spoken out about the recent video involving a lady and the club manager arguing over unpaid salary.
The joint explained that the people in the viral video were part of its former staff that was laid off for allegedly defrauding the management.
"Recently as the Rixxos management, we had an issue with a few of our waitresses and our barman which we reported to the local DCI office on 24th November 2022 upon which they offered help and arrested the workers on 1st December 2022 on suspicion of stealing and defrauding from the company," Rixxos said in part in a statement.
"After a wide consultation with our IT department regarding losses, we have been recording the past few weeks, we followed some leads and came to the conclusion it was through the use of past Mpesa codes in our systems to settle the current bills of our customers," the statement added.
The management said that the former staff stormed the premise demanding their pay after they were released on bond.
Rixxos noted that they informed that former staff that they would not be paid until police concluded their investigations into the alleged theft.
"The management later learned that they were released on bond for a later investigation. After release, they came to our premises threatening the management and hence the drama began between our management and the foresaid workers who were asking for their monthly salary and that's where we made it clear that we could not pay them until the investigation is completed," Rixxos management said.
The Kitengela joint further stated that they couldn't delve into much detail because the matter was still under police investigation.
"Due to the ongoing investigations, we cannot comment further," the statement added.
Viral video
In the video which has been trending on Twitter since Wednesday afternoon December 7, 2022, the man can be heard hurling insults at the female attendant while explicitly stating that he will not pay the woman what he owes her.
He goes as far as telling the woman that she can't do anything to him since he is allegedly 'close' friends with President William Ruto.
The video was shared by several people including former Nairobi governor Mike Sonko.

NPS
The National Police Service (NPS), while reacting to the viral video issued a statement, urged the lady to record a statement with the police so that investigations could commence.
"The National Police Service has taken note of a distasteful video clip circulating on social media showing a man alleged to be the owner of Rixxos Lounge in Kitengela harassing and threatening a female employee demanding her unpaid salary," NPS said.
Adding that; "In accordance with the National Police Service to serve and protect all citizens we have commenced our investigation into the matter. Meanwhile, we are urging the lady in the video to file a formal complaint at any police station to enable the police take the most appropriate legal action into the matter."
