The Orange Democratic Movement has ruled out direct nomination for its candidate for the November 7 Kibra Constituency by-election.

In a rally held on Sunday, ODM party leader Raila Odinga said that primaries will be held on Saturday, August 31.

Several aspirants have expressed interest in running for seat in an ODM ticket, including Mr Imran Okoth, who is brother to the late MP Ken Okoth.

Others who have expressed interest are: Mr Eliud Owalo, former Senator Elizabeth Ongoro, ODM Secretary-General Edwin Sifuna, former Embakasi South MP Irshad Sumra and ODM member Benson Musungu.

The seat fell vacant following the death of Ken Okoth from cancer on July 26, 2019.
