Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga has revealed that he has tested negative for Covid-19.

The party’s Director of Communication Philip Etale, in a statement, said that Raila tested negative after a third test that was conducted Wednesday morning, March 31.

“We are happy our Party Leader Raila Odinga tested negative and is out of danger of Covid-19. We thank God for that. God bless him, God bless Kenya,” he said, adding that he had spoken to him and Odinga was in high spirits.

Etale said that Raila was "in high spirits" when they spoke and he is expected to bounce back fully in the next few days.

Raila fell ill on Wednesday, March 10, and was admitted to the Nairobi Hospital where he later revealed he had tested positive for Covid-19.

This saw him forced into isolation and has been in and out of hospital for check-ups since then.

On Wednesday afternoon, March 31, Raila met with ODM leadership where he reviewed critical developments in the country.

“We had specific focus on the ongoing vaccination campaign and containment measures against COVID-19, the state of the economy and its impact on Kenyans and political developments in the country,” Raila said.

The meeting was attended by Senate Minority leader James Orengo, ODM chairman John Mbadi, National Assembly Minority Whip Junet Mohamed, Secretary-General Edwin Sifuna, ODM Treasurer Timothy Bosire and Ms. Glady Wanga who is the Homa Bay Woman Representative.
