Kiharu Member of Parliament Ndindi Nyoro on Friday, November 26, dismissed Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga’s support in Mount Kenya region.

In a statement moments after a meeting between Odinga and the business community and youth in Nyeri, Nyoro claimed that Odinga had transported people from Luo Nyanza in buses in order to convince the country that he had support in Mount Kenya region.

In the meeting, Odinga did not talk matters politics and instead called for peace ahead of the next general elections scheduled for August 2022.

“When I was going back to Nairobi, I met several busses all from Luo Nyanza heading this way. I even wondered whether Mount Kenya was hosting drama festivals,” said Nyoro.

“I was told that we neither had drama festivals nor sports but there was a meeting that was being held by Odinga in Nyeri,” he added.

According to Nyoro, the people had been transported to Nyeri with Odinga’s team so as he could deceive other Kenyans that he had a lot of support in Mount Kenya region.

The MP who is serving his first term in parliament also challenged local radio and television stations to head to the meeting and interview people in the Kikuyu dialect assuring them that they will be disappointed.

“I wondered why Odinga had opted to bring people from Luo Nyanza instead of just meeting people from Nyeri,” he said, adding that the people who were transported there had been coached on how to clap for Odinga.

Nyoro said that it would only be important if Odinga meets people from Nyeri without necessarily transporting his supporters this way.

Odinga is in a two-day tour in Nyeri county and on Friday, November 26 met over 1600 people.
