Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Raila Odinga on Friday played host to children from underprivileged families including those from street kids at his Kisumu mansion to celebrate Christmas.

Speaking to the press, Raila said that he donated foodstuff and other goodies to the families as they mark the world celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ.

"We looked for these street children basically orphaned children and those from disadvantaged families to make them happy. This is something charitable and is something done around the world as we remember the birth of Jesus Christ," Raila said.

Raila said he decided to conduct charity work since it mirrors what Jesus stands for, giving back to society.

"Life of Jesus Christ is actually a life of charity, a life of sacrifice, helping the needy and those disadvantaged in the society," Raila said.

Raila is also expected to be a guest at the Kisumu street Christmas party that is set to take place on December 25 in Kisumu's Central Business District (CBD).
