Panic has hit Kenya Industrial Training Institute (KITI) quarantine area in Nakuru after a woman said to be in her 20s hanged her self.

The woman is said to have travelled to Kenya from South Africa and was at Mai Mahiu when she was taken in for quarantine at KITI on Thursday.

The school received four for quarantine, two women and two men.

According to the three, the health workers doing the temperature checks tried to access the room the woman was in but the door was locked and music was blaring from inside.

"Yesterday, she complained that the conditions are deplorable and had requested to be taken to a hotel for quarantine as she could afford but the health officials were hesitant", said one of them.

When the health workers eventually accessed the room, they found that the woman had hanged herself using cloth just above the double-decker bed.

Earlier this week, one of them men quarantined there, Samson Rutto who is an athlete returning from a cancelled marathon in India, had pleaded for aid saying he didn't have food.

Complains of poor conditions by people undergoing quarantine in different locations have damped efforts by the government to ensure that all the people getting into the country are quarantined in safe and conducive areas.
