The Public Service Commission (PSC) has announced vacancies for the positions of Solicitor General and Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) Deputy Governor.

In a gazette notice dated November 1, 2022, PSC chairman Anthony Muchiri stated that interested applicants should apply on or before November 14, 2022.

To apply for the Solicitor -General one is required to be a holder of a law degree from a recognized university. They must also have at least 10 years of experience working as a legal practitioner or distinguished academic practitioner among other relevant legal fields.

“For the appointment to this position, a person should have at least 10 years experience as a legal practitioner with high moral character, integrity and impartiality,” Muchiri stated.

Interested applicants are also required to have cleared with the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) and the Higher Education Loans Board.

Names of shortlisted candidates will be forwarded to the president who will appoint the most qualified candidate with the approval of the National Assembly.

CBK Deputy Governor position

For those interested in the position of Deputy Governor of CBK currently occupied by Sheila M'Mbijjewe, one must be a Kenyan citizen and have a degree in economics, law, banking and finance.

“No person shall be appointed as Deputy Governor of the CBK if he/she is: (a) a Member of Parliament or a Member of a County Assembly; (b) a salaried employee of any public entity (except on a secondment basis); (c) a director, officer, employee, partner in or shareholder of any specified bank or specified financial institution.” the gazette notice reads in parts.
