A 29-year-old man from Webuye in Bungoma County on Wednesday, January 15, gave a moving acceptance speech recorded on video, thanking President Uhuru Kenyatta for nominating him to the position of Principal Secretary, Ministry of Physical Planning.

The man, Enosh Momanyi, thanked the Head of State for believing in the youth by nominating him to the lucrative post.

Momanyi said he learnt of his said-nomination through a Kenyan newspaper after President Kenyatta reshuffled his Cabinet on Tuesday, January 14.

Momanyi’s picture was published in the newspaper the following day, January 15.

Following the publication, Momanyi recorded a video of himself saying “thank you” to President Kenyatta.

“Good evening fellow Kenyans. My name is Enosh Momanyi. I am 29 years old from Webuye West Constituency in Bungoma County,” he begins in his acceptance speech.

“Today has been a good day as I woke up to calls and messages from people that I know and those who I do not know congratulating me on my appointment (sic) as the principal secretary, Physical Planning, by his excellency the president.

“I learnt about my appointment (sic) through the Standard newspaper dated January 15th.

“Many of you must have watched President Uhuru Kenyatta make his commitments towards giving equal opportunities to the youth, and, in this case, those who have attained better academic grades and highest consolidated character.

“I wish to thank President Kenyatta for believing in the youth. My desire is to align my responsibilities towards the president’s Big Four agenda. As I conclude, I also wish to thank all Kenyans as I look forward to being a servant to all of you.”

However, it has emerged that the Enosh Momanyi appointed to the Physical Planning docket is not the 29-year-old confident and eloquent Webuye man.

The Standard newspaper issued a clarification on its Thursday edition, saying they “regret the error”, and went ahead to publish the right image of the PS-nominee to the Ministry of Physical Planning.
