Drama was experienced on Monday, September 26, 2022, during Azimio la Umoja- One Kenya coalition’s peaceful march to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) offices at Anniversary Towers as police dispersed protesters using teargas canisters.

The march called by Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Director of Communications Phillip Etale was aimed at protesting against the interdiction of the Deputy CEO Madam Ruth Kulundu.

Kulundu was interdicted over alleged gross misconduct and insubordination however the legislators maintain that she is being punished for her lead role as a whistleblower in the August 9 polls.

The opposition lawmakers also claim her interdiction was choreographed for assisting the four IEBC commissioners who disputed chairman Wafula Chebukati.

IEBC CEO Marjan Hussein Marjan accused Kulundu of misconduct for facilitating an illegal meeting without his approval or delegation on August 26 where the quartet who disputed the 2022 presidential election results picked law firms that would represent the commission during the presidential election petition.
