The Head of State on Friday forwarded Ms Gathungu’s name to the National Assembly for vetting.

She served as the Director of Quality Assurance at the Office of the Auditor-General.

On August 27, 2019, the President in compliance with Section 11(2) of the Public Audit Act, 2015, declared a vacancy in the position of the Auditor-General vide a Special Gazette Notice Vol. CXX1 No. 111.

Pursuant to Section 11(5) of the Act, President Kenyatta, thereafter, constituted a Selection Panel to consider the applications, and to select at least three persons qualified for appointment as Auditor-General.

The position attracted 70 candidates.

Should she be approved by Parliament, Kabui will take over from Edward Ouko, whose 8-year tenure as Auditor-General ended in August 2019.
