A police officer accused of defiling and impregnating a Class Seven pupil has been arrested, Rachuonyo South sub-county acting police commander James Soita has said.

Soita said the rogue officer identified as Corporal Domianos Sawo was arrested on Friday, February 14, 2020, at Nyatike in Migori County and is incarcerated at Oyugis police station.

“The suspect is locked up at Oyugis police station and will be arraigned in court on Monday,” said the acting police commander on Saturday morning.

On Thursday, Rachuonyo South sub-county Children’s Officer Caleb Ochor had rescued the pupil who was allegedly defiled every weekend over the last seven months and placed her in a children’s home

The victim was staying in the home of the suspect when the incident happened.

She came to the home after the death of her parents but left following the revelations.

The children’s office said the girl was deemed to be in need of care and protection away from the village, saying her life was at risk since the case was reported to the authorities but the arrest was yet to be made.

“I never saw my dad, but I saw my mother who died in the year 2017,” she said.
