Former Machakos Senator Johnson Muthama was on Friday directed by police at Gigiri Station to go look for Mike Sonko in Kamiti Prison yet the ex-governor was being detained at the station.

Muthama arrived at the Gigiri Police Station a few minutes past 4pm.

The former legislator was with a few Tanga Tanga-allied politicians.

Muthama and co however vowed to remain at the station, saying they knew Sonko was not under lawful detention at Kamiti, but at the Gigiri post.

A push-and-pull was still ongoing at the time of publishing this story.

Following Sonko’s arrest for graft allegations early this week, several Tanga Tanga politicians, including Nominated Senator Millicent Omanga and Elgeyo-Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen, have visited the ex-county boss in custody.

Sonko will be produced in court on Tuesday, February 9, when his bail request will be determined.
