Police looking for missing househelp who fled with Ksh4million from employer

Police in Karen, Nairobi have launched a hunt for a house help accused of stealing Ksh4million cash from her employer's house.

The accused identified as Miriam Mwelu Muinde is said to have fled her employer's house with cash and jewellery worth Ksh500,000.

According to a police report, the money in question had been placed in the wardrobe of the employer's husband.

The employer identified as Charity Waithira Mungai stated that by the time she was arriving home the househelp was nowhere to be seen.

“It was reported by Charity Waithira Mungai that upon return from work at around 1500 hrs she found the house girl missing, and upon checking in the house, she realised that her jewellery worth about Ksh500,000 and cash Ksh.4 million which had been placed on top of their wardrobe by her husband one Nelson Ributhi Gaichuhie was missing as well,” the police report read in parts.

It is said that the accused's phone signal was last captured in Rongai area before going off.

Police probe similar incident

The latest report comes barely a month after another househelp was accused of stealing Ksh104million from her employer's house in Lang'ata.

In the incident, police managed to recover Ksh2.5million from the accused.
