A police officer who disappeared for 17 days without a trace in Lamu County has resurfaced albeit with gunshot wounds.

Norman Mwongera Kiunga is said to have gone missing in the Boni enclave a fortnight ago but reappeared on Tuesday morning at Basuba GSU camp.

The officer had suffered gunshot wounds; a bullet lodged in his thighs and a bullet wound between his elbow and wrist.

It is not clear yet what transpired leading to his situation.

Mwongera had his official Negev S/No. NG7 with no ammunitions and a Ceska pistol S/no. F8526 with 11 RDS.

A police report says he has been evacuated for medication.
