Detectives have intensified a manhunt for the Directors of the hotel building which collapsed on Friday in Makeji, Murang'a County.

The collapsed building which cost the lives of three construction workers on the site was an extension of a hotel that was already in operation and was on the sixth floor before collapsing.

Central Regional Commissioner Wilfred Nyagwanga has said investigation officers have been sent to Nyanza where they believe the contractor is hiding.

“We are tracking down the hotel owners. We understand there are three Directors who manage the facility and the contractor on site. We have been told he is somewhere in Nyanza, and we have sent a team there,” said Wilfred Nyagwanga.

The rescue team on the ground is currently in search of five people believed to be trapped in the rubble.

Three people have so far been retrieved dead.

Leaders from Murang'a led by Governor Mwangi Wa Iria have called on the authorities to ensure those responsible face the law.

Governor Mwangi has questioned how the building got to six floors with no one detecting that there was a problem.
