Police officers in Kiminini, Trans Nzoia County, are looking for Brian Wafula, a 21-year-old man suspected of having murdered his mother, Judith Nafula Konya.

It is reported that Konya, a laboratory technician at St Joseph's Girls' high school, went missing on Tuesday, 18 October 2022.

The body of the 50-year-old technician was found floating in the Kiminini river on Saturday evening.

Confirming the incident, Kiminini Sub County Police Commander John Onditi said Konya had a quarrel with his son, who sold some farm produce without informing her.

"The lady went missing on the 18th of this month after being threatened by the son, and yesterday the body was found floating in River Kiminini. The body was retrieved and taken to the mortuary," Onditi said.

Onditi told K24 digital that the 21-year-old had stolen and sold some farm produce and his mother scolded him.

The Sub County Police boss said the suspect disappeared from the day his mother went missing.

"The boy also disappeared from the day his mother went missing and we are tracing him," Onditi revealed.

He further stated that the body had some bruises and that postmortem results would reveal what caused her death.

"Although the body had some bruises, we cannot link the bruises to her death. We are waiting for postmortem results to know if the deceased was thrown into the river after being murdered or she was thrown while still alive," he said.

Earlier this week, the picture of the missing laboratory technician went viral on social media platforms.
