Police launch manhunt for 2 assailants who shot dead cop in Donholm

Police officers have launched a manhunt for two suspects who fatally shot an officer and sped to an unknown destination in the Vumilia slums of Doholm area, Nairobi, on the evening of Friday, September 16, 2022.

According to a witness David Kahuha who was walking in the Vumilia slums of Donholm at the time of the incident, two pillion passengers escaped on a motorbike after shooting a man who was behind him.

Kahuha explained that he first heard a scream from behind which was then followed by a gunshot sound.

"I was walking on my way home in Vumilia slums in Donholm when I heard someone scream behind me and immediately a gunshot was also heard. Then two people who committed the act sped away on a motorcycle," Kahuha narrated.

The witness was unable to get the registration number of the motorcycle as the area was dark.

After police arrived at the scene, it was established that the deceased was a police officer and had his police baton, police pocket phone, name tag and a police reflector jacket.

"Police were informed and rushed to the scene of the crime. They established that the deceased was Constable Lucky Mungereza Tsuma. He had his police pocket phone, baton, name tag and a reflector jacket," the police report added.

They recovered a 9MM spent cartridge and a bullet head of 9MM, his wallet with cash Ksh4850.

"Also recovered were a spent cartridge and a bullet head both of 9MM, his wallet with cash Ksh. 4850," the report added.

The deceased had a gunshot wound on the chest which had exited through the back.

The motive for the killing is yet to be established.

The deceased's body was moved to Mama Lucy Kibaki Hospital Mortuary awaiting an autopsy.
