Police in Kisii on Sunday evening arrested a 25-year-old woman suspected of killing her nine-year-old daughter after she lost ksh10.

Grace Nyandusi killed the minor on Saturday evening after she lost the money meant for buying chapati in Nyaribari Chache.

Police engaged locals for close to an hour as they tried to restrain them from harming the woman.

Calvin Kengara who is the area Assistant Chief said that the girl's father was away in Nairobi where he is working.

"The girl, a pupil at Gesare Primary School passed through a sugarcane farm while heading to buy the chapati when the money disappeared," he said.

The minor then went back home and told her mother that she had lost the money.

The woman then turned against her using a chapati roller hitting her on the head.

The girl fell down unconscious and when she realised what she had done she started screaming as she called neighbours.

Kisii County police boss Francis Kool said that the body of the minor had been taken to the morgue.

"The lady will be arraigned in court tomorrow, Monday, May 24," Kool said.
