Police in Kapsabet, Nandi county have seized 12 sacks of bang from a house in Showground Estate following a tip-off from members of the public.

Addressing the press on Tuesday, November 2 after the seizure, Nandi Deputy Police Commander Isaac Odunge said police conducted the search operation in various houses before members of the public informed his officers where the bhang was hidden.

Odunge further linked the use of bhang to a recent case where a man reportedly smoked the drug, beat up his brother to death before members of the public lynched him.

"We have suffered a lot because of this drug. Yesterday, we lost a baby and his brother because of bhang. After smoking the drug, that man began beating up his young brother whom he killed only for him to be murdered by angry members of the public in mob justice," Odunge said.

Police in Kapsabet is still looking for the owner of the house where the 12 sacks of bhang were found.
