Police helicopter with 6 on board crashes in Meru forest

A police helicopter with six occupants on board on Saturday morning (June 13) crashed in Kithoka Forest in Kaithe area, North Imenti Constituency in Meru County.

Only minor injuries were reported, with no fatality registered. The injured were taken to a nearby hospital, said Meru County Police Commander Patrick Lumumba.

The police officers were headed to Sololo in Marsabit County, when the accident occurred.

It remains unclear what caused the crash.

As of the time of publishing this story, police had arrived at the scene, trying to control a crowd of curious onlookers, who had flocked to Kithooka Forest.
