Police in Ruiru have shot and killed an armed robber after a scary shoot-out in Kiambu County.

The shoot-out ensued after the police responded to a distress call from two victims who had been robbed of valuables and motor vehicle as they parked at Geo Lucky apartment in Ruiru's Kihunguro area.

It is alleged a two-man gang at around 3.40am, the male victim and his girlfriend had been robbed of three Samsung mobile phones make A71, S7 and S9.

“Police officers on patrol heard the shots and sped to the scene immediately. On gathering the crux of the robbery, they made chase of the gang who had disappeared to an unknown route,” DCI said.

After minutes of endless pursuit, the officers managed to intercept the two armed gunmen which resulted in a fierce shoot-out as one of the gunmen fired his mini Ceska pistol at the officers.

In response, the officers fatally shot the robber, as his accomplice fled the scene. Among the items recovered include the deceased's rifle, assorted motor vehicle parts stashed in a sack, and mobile phones.

The police also revealed further search around Kihunguro's Gorofa Chafu area led to the recovery of a vandalized Toyota Allion that had earlier been stolen from the victims.

This incident comes barely two days after another armed criminal gang of three was gunned down in Githurai 45, hours after they were suspected to have stolen a private vehicle in Kayole, Nairobi County.

The suspect, however, managed to vanish into a thicket, with police launching Investigations into the whereabouts of the wanted thugs.
