Garissa: Police recover w*****e equipment after shootout with suspected Al-S*****b m*******s

Police on Monday, May 22 recovered warfare equipment after a fierce shootout with suspected Al-Shabaab militants in Diiso, Garissa County.

According to a police report, equipment recovered included two RPGs with seven warheads, six AK47 rifles with 20 magazines, one PK machine gun with a belt of 200 rounds, two hand grenades, Improverised Explosive Device (IED) materials, food cache, one cell phone and a memory card.

"On 22 May 2023, at around 1100hrs while along Diiso, Biamthow SOG Officers on patrol found fresh foot prints at Billow Dam and after tracking the footprints for about 2.7kms, they came across a makeshift camp with about 10 suspected Alshabaab militants who engaged in a shootout, and the militants escaped," the statement said.

Police said they have since launched probe into the incident.
