Plum perks Duale stands to lose after ejection from top seat

Firebrand Garissa Township MP Aden Duale will no longer enjoy several privileges and plum perks after ejection as National Assembly Majority Leader on Monday.

Duale, a close ally of Deputy President William Ruto, will have to contend with slashed allowances and renunciation of other privileges.

He was replaced by Kipipiri MP Amos Kimunya during a Jubilee National Assembly Parliamentary Group meeting held at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) in Nairobi.

By virtue of his office, Duale enjoyed hefty perks including allowances, official cars, bodyguards and plum office with the support staff at Parliament Buildings.

In addition to, enhanced security and luxury fuel guzzlers fully serviced, maintained and fueled by the government.

But it is expected that Duale will lose his office located at main parliament buildings, extra allowance and staff advanced to him and fully paid by the Parliamentary Service Commission (PSC).

The staff includes a researcher, policy analyst and legal officer, a secretary, personal assistant and an office assistant.

The office of majority leaders is entitled to at least more than three top-range GK vehicles all above 4500cc and an equal number of security officers but a number can go up to if one puts in a request.

Some officers are stationed at the holder’s rural home, others at the Nairobi home, while others serve as bodyguards accompanying him on his daily endeavours.

This is besides a driver provided by the government. Duale, also had a chase car assigned to him. P

People Daily has learnt that he will only remain with either one or two bodyguards.

The Garissa Township lawmaker had also a more lucrative car fuel card and a further Sh300,000 monthly for hospitality which will also be withdrawn.

Currently, a Majority Leader takes home Sh1,056,000 monthly salary which including an allocation of sh.200,000 monthly allowance and responsibility allowance of about Sh138,000 monthly which Duale will now not be entitled to.

Most importantly, the Garissa Township will lose the stature that comes with his former posting
