A 51-year-old woman from Mukuyu Estate in Murang’a Town is receiving treatment at the Murang’a Level 5 Hospital after she was burned with hot cooking oil.

Mary Njeri had gone to intervene when her attacker, a pastor’s wife, was wrangling with her [attacker’s] friend on Wednesday.

When Njeri attempted to break up the fight, her aggressor, who was preparing chips in her stall, poured hot cooking oil on her. The suspect is a chips trader in Murang’a Town.

Njeri, who washes people’s clothes at a fee, sustained burn injuries to her thighs, legs and chest.

The suspect is yet to be arrested, the victim’s sister, Lucy Nyambura, said.

Nyambura has urged police to apprehend and have the attacker prosecuted.
