Israella Bushiri, the daughter of self-proclaimed Malawian prophet Shepherd Bushiri has died.

The eight-year-old girl, who has been receiving treatment at a hospital in Nairobi, died on Monday, March 29, weeks after she jetted into the country from Malawi.

Bushiri, in a Facebook post said that his daughter offered his wife, Mary, and himself “great comfort and enlightenment.”

The embattled prophet described his daughter as strong and brilliant girl who loved worshiping and serving God despite her young age

“It is with deep sadness that I announce the passing on of my daughter, Israella. As a father it was my desire to see her grow and serve the Lord; however, the will of God was for her to return back to Him,” his Facebook post read.

Bushiri said the minor was born at a time when his family was going through great persecution.

On March 18, K24 Digital exclusively reported that the minor had been barred from travelling to Kenya for medical purposes.

He said that she had been hospitalised in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for weeks as she battled a lung infection and that she needed a bone marrow transplant.

Bushiri said the delay in bringing the minor to Kenya for treatment partly contributed to her premature death.

“When I spoke to the doctor, he highlighted that if she had not been blocked at the airport the first time, she needed to travel to Kenya for medical assistance, she would not have died,” he said.

Meanwhile, the prophet is still fighting an extradition order to South Africa where he is wanted for alleged money laundering, theft and fraud.
