Parents in Aldai, Nandi county, held a demonstration in a bid to eject Kemeloi Boys High School's principal.

The irate parents accused the school principal of poor management which they said had caused regular strikes witnessed at the institution.

"We have been having a lot of stress as parents of this school, every now and then students go on strike as a result of poor management of the principals," William Cheruiyot, who is a parent, lamented.

Speaking to the press as schools reopen for the third term, the parents criticised the principal claiming that he changed the institution of learning to be a 'house of business'.

"Before the end of the last term, students demonstrated after their issues and concerns were not heard by the administration, right from meals and other needs. They went ahead to destroy some property. Now the principal wants every parent to pay Ksh1000 yet we recently paid Ksh3000. With the tough economy where will get such amounts?" The parents posed.

The parents now want the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) to transfer the principal to another school, saying learning won't continue smoothly if he continues being in the same school as he has only cultivated poor relations with the parents and community.

"The differences which have been witnessed in this school every now and then will definitely affect the education in our beloved school. We request TSC to intervene to get us another principal who will scale upwards academic standards of Kemeloi Boys ," Koech, a parent, added.
