Land court judge Justice Kossy Bor has dismissed an application filed by Pangani estate residents seeking to stop ongoing demolitions of their houses.

The judge said the application will interfere with President Uhuru Kenyatta’s Big Four agenda to improve the housing standards.

In his ruling, Justice Bor said he also considered that the evicted tenants had been paid Sh600,000 as compensation to vacate the houses, with the estate set for an upgrade.

The residents wanted to stop the demolitions, claiming they had not been adequately consulted.

But the residents have been assured by Nairobi County government that they would be given first priority when the houses are complete.
