Over 20 students were arrested at a college in Eastleigh, Nairobi on Tuesday by security officers.

The school, Alison College, was also shut down after it was found to be operating illegally.

The students did not have Kenyan identity cards and police suspect many of them are from Somalia citizens.

The college had more than 100 students and officials the school is not registered with Kenyan authorities.

Security officers said 50 percent of the college’s students did not have permits allowing them to be in Kenya. The rest, police said, had expired permits.

The school only taught English and Kiswahili and many of the students could not express themselves competently in either of the two languages.
