Oparanya’s Chief of Staff dies of Covid-19

Kakamega County Chief of Staff, Robert Sumbi, has died of coronavirus disease, Governor Wycliffe Oparanya has confirmed.

Sumbi died while receiving treatment at the Intensive Care Unit at the Kakamega County Referral and Teaching Hospital.

The county official on Thursday morning, October 29.

On Wednesday, Governor Oparanya closed county offices for a week after over 50 workers, among them health staff, tested positive for coronavirus.

Sumbi previously served as the Kakamega Environment minister in Oparanya's first term.

The governor on Wednesday also warned his county workers against visiting the same pub in Kakamega town every evening, saying they risk lives or spreading further the coronavirus disease.
