One person has been retrieved alive from the rubble, three days after a hotel building collapsed in Murang'a.

The survivor has since been rushed to Thika Level 5 hospital for more specialized medical attention.

As of today, two people believed to be alive are still trapped in the debris as the mission rescue enters day three.

The four-storey building collapsed on Friday afternoon at around 1.40 pm as the construction works were going on.

According to one of the witnesses, she was serving some of the workers their lunch when they heard a deafening sound and shortly after the building was down.

“It was a lucky escape for many of the workers because the large number was out having lunch,” the witness said.

So far, six people have been confirmed dead.
