A Nation Media Group journalist Mwangu Muiruri was roughed up by security officers attached to Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua's wife Dorcas Gachagua during a food donation exercise in Ithanga, lower Murang'a.

The scuffle emerged when one of the officers pulled Muiruri back when he was recording the event using his phone at Greystone Chief's Camp.

Despite having a job tag on his neck, the officer demanded that he retracts and stop taking the video.

The journalist however said this was part of his job and this seem to have irked the officers and they roughed him up, snatching his phone.

The scuffle ensued for a couple of minutes before the intervention of other journalists.

"I was recording the video clip for our digital platform when one of the officers pulled me back telling me to stop using my phone," he said.

"I told her I was only doing my work but she could here none of it" he added.

Additionally, one of the officers, upon noticing that another journalist was recording the drama, snatched the phone and deleted the clip in a bid to conceal the evidence.

This is the second time Muiruri is being roughed up by security officers after another incident in Kangari town, Kigumo constituency where President William Ruto, then the Deputy President had attended a function late last year.
