Mombasa: Police officer who shot his wife to be charged with murder

A police officer attached at the Bamburi police station in Mombasa county who allegedly shot his wife has been arrested following her death.

The woman succumbed at the Coast general hospital where she had been placed in the Intensive Care Unit(ICU).

According to police OB 55/6/12/2022, 30-year-old, Emily Misiza had been admitted to the facility after she was shot four times by her husband Meshack Kosgey.

Preliminary police investigations indicate that Koskey shot his wife over domestic rows after the deceased had threatened to end their relationship.

He used his official firearm, a Ceska pistol which he had been assigned for official duties.

At the time of the incident the pistol, S/N KP3815 was loaded with 13 rounds of ammunition 9 mm, and one spent cartridge was recovered from the scene.

The report further reveals that the deceased who has been at the ICU since December 6 succumbed to injuries yesterday.

"The deceased succumbed to injuries yesterday and her body is lying at the hospital morgue awaiting to undergo postmortem," part of the police report read.

Police have further revealed that they were in the process of referring murder charges against the suspect.

"The suspect is currently being remanded at Nyali police station under miscellaneous application awaiting police to complete investigations. He will now be charged with murder of the deceased contrary to section 203 as read with sec 204 of the penal code, "the police report further reads.
