A distraught couple from Mucharage Sub location, Chinga Ward in Othaya constituency in Nyeri county, is reeling from the pain and shock of losing all its three children to fire.

The three children aged between one-and-half and five years were burnt to ashes after a fire broke out in their house last night.

The incident happened at around 8pm when their mother Gladys Wamuyu had left the house for an errand at a neighbour’s house.

Their father Peter Waititu was also away in Nairobi where he works.

Neighbours who were alarmed by the heavy smoke billowing from the house rushed to the scene in a bid to offer help only to find the children already dead.

Chinga MCA Kiruga Thuku confirmed the incident. “I was called this morning and informed that there was a house that had burnt and consumed kids in my ward.

“I drove back from Nairobi where I was attending an assembly meeting and indeed confirmed that the house burnt down and that the kids burnt to ashes. Nothing was rescued.

“We are now putting up plans to help this family by building them a house. We will also help in any burial budgets,” Kiruga told K24 Digital.
