Nyakach Member of Parliament Joshua Aduma Owuor was on Thursday afternoon arrested by detectives from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC).

Owuor was taken in for allegedly overseeing irregular payment of Ksh68 million to Wachira Mburu, Mwangi & Company Advocates during his tenure as the director of legal services at the now-defunct Nairobi City Council.

The MP was whisked away by EACC detectives while having lunch at Gor Mahia restaurant in Kisumu.

K24 Digital understands that EACC officials in Kisumu on Thursday afternoon began processing the lawmaker’s transfer to the agency’s headquarters in Nairobi.

Owuor and former Nairobi Governor, Evans Kidero, are among 17 suspects the EACC are investigating over allegations of corruption in the Ksh68 million legal services payment scandal.

Others implicated in the case are: former chief of staff during Kidero’s administration, George Wainaina Njogu, former Nairobi mayor John Ndirangu Kariuki and former councillor Paul Mutunga Mutungi, among others.

More soon.
