Acting Inspector General of Police Noor Gabow on Monday, August 29, 2022, paid a visit to his boss Hillary Mutyambai, who is recuperating in hospital.

In a statement, the National Police Service said the deputy IG had a hearty conversation on various issues with Mutyambai, who is admitted at the Aga Khan Hospital in Nairobi.

The police boss fell sick on Thursday, August 25, and nominated his deputy Noor Gabow to assume his role in an acting capacity.

"This is to inform the public that I will be away from the office attending a medical checkup effective, August 26, 2022," Mutyambai said in a statement.

"In my absence, Noor Gabow, the Deputy Inspector General in Charge of Administration Police will act as the Inspector General of the National Police service until my return," he added.

The entire National Police Service fraternity has since wished Mutyambai a speedy and full recovery.

This is not the first time Mutyambai is delegating duties to his junior.

In 2020, Mutyambai delegated his duties to DIG Edward Mbugua after he fell sick.

The Inspector General of Police exercises his duties as an independent command of the NPS.

When he is away from performing his duties, he is allowed to assign the duties to his junior.

Noor served in the Kenya police as an inspector before being named the DIG-APS in 2018.

He rose through various ranks before reaching his current position and he is widely known for his no-nonsense demeanour.
