No church or mosque worship sessions in 5 counties, Uhuru orders

President Uhuru Kenyatta on Friday, March 26 announced that his government has stopped all religious gatherings in five counties namely Nairobi, Machakos, Kajiado, Kiambu and Nakuru counties.

The President said the decision was reached at to avert further spread of COVID-19 in these counties, which he termed as “disease-infected” regions.

The Head of State said the order to stop religious gatherings in these five counties will be in place indefinitely.

This order takes effect starting Saturday, March 27.

The President directed that worship centres in Kenya's other 42 counties be restricted to a third of the worship venue's capacity.
