The National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF) has raised an alarm over a fake job advert circulating on social media.

In a notice on Wednesday, the State-backed insurer distanced itself from the poster which listed vacancies in the Benefits and Quality Assurance departments.

NHIF warned that the advert is being circulated online by some unscrupulous persons operating some fake recruitment firm seeking to con unsuspecting members of the public.

The Fund urged members of the public to ignore the advert, insisting that the agency only publishes its vacancies in mainstream newspapers and on the NHIF website.

"It has come to the attention of the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) that some unscrupulous persons are inviting job seekers to apply for NHIF jobs through a recruitment company circulating fake advertisements online.

"The Fund wishes to notify the public that the circulated job advertisements for Benefits and Quality Assurance officers are fake. The Fund has a clear recruitment policy, including publishing vacancies in mainstream newspapers and on the NHIF website - https://nhif.or.ke/careers," the notice reads in part.

NHIF warned that the management won't bear any responsibility for any personal loss arising from fraudulent job offers or related transactions.

The clarification comes amid increased cases of members of the public being conned online through fake job advertisements.

Yesterday, Kenya Airways also disowned a fictitious poster circulated on social media purporting to advertise 13 posts in the company including clerks, toll attendants and cleaners.

In a statement, the national carrier said that no such notification had been issued adding that their job vacancies are only uploaded on their official account on Linkedln.

Last week, the National Authority for the Campaign against Alcohol and Drug Abuse (NACADA) also dismissed a notice circulating online purporting to advertise over 1,000 permanent and pensionable jobs.

"Our attention has been drawn to the advertisement below on purported vacancies at the Authority. We wish to inform members of the public that the announcement is FAKE and should thus be dismissed with contempt," NACADA said.

Further, NACADA cautioned members of the public against falling prey to fraudsters posing as NACADA employees targeting to fleece Kenyans of their hard-earned cash with a promise of helping them secure employment.
