The controversy over the academic qualifications of Nairobi Senator Johnson Sakaja has taken a new twist after the Commission of Universities Education (CUE) has confirmed with Ugandan authorities that the legislator's degree of Bachelor of Science in Management is valid and genuine.

According to a letter seen by K24 Digital, the commission says that it has received information from the Ugandan government stating that Sakaja graduated from Teams University and that the degree certificate is genuine.

The new development comes a few hours to the hearing of four complaints lodged at IEBC Dispute Resolution committee seeking revocation of Sakaja's clearance to vie for Nairobi governor on UDA party ticket.

A three-member IEBC committee is expected to hear the complaint by the parties at 2:00 pm.

Sakaja was cleared by the electoral commission to vie for the Nairobi gubernatorial seat in August polls using the Teams University degree certificate.
