Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro has finally been arrested after a cat and mouse game with authorities.

Nyoro was arrested on Monday evening at ACK St James Cathedral and set to be charged with assaulting a police officer, resisting arrest and a disrupting church service at Gatui Catholic Church on Sunday.

The MP has been detained at Murang'a Police Station but his lawyer has been allowed access to him.

Murang'a County Criminal Investigations Officer Julius Rutere said the legislator committed an offense and will be charged.

“We are hunting for him and we shall not rest until we get him,” said Rutere when he ordered Nyoro to surrender himself to police.

According to Murang’a County Commander Josphat Kinyua, they are conducting investigations into the scuffle which happened on Sunday at Gitui Catholic Church.

Addressing the press at his office on Monday, Kinyua, however, said they are also hunting for other suspects linked to the eruption of chaos in the church.

Chaos broke out in the Kiharu church after Nyoro stormed inside, to assert his authority as the local MP after the Kieleweke faction of Jubilee failed to invite him to their fundraiser.

Nyoro, who is aligned to the team Tanga Tanga, the faction championing for Deputy President William Ruto to ascend to the presidency in 2022, the convener of the fundraiser should have consulted him first.

The convener, nominated MP Maina Kamanda, is one of the leaders of the Kieleweke group which is opposed to a Ruto presidency.
